My dad is in Japan right now. He's been there for 2 weeks and he has 2 more weeks to go. That's BAD ASS! His job sent him over there. He has a flickr account here. I told him to sign up for one so I could look at pictures in case he wasn't online for me to catch him.
These are just SOME of my favorites so far:
The first one is a Japanese Wedding that was taking place at a temple he went to. It's cherry blossom season over there right now. So he's getting lots of great shots of Cherry Blossom trees in bloom. The third one is at another temple. People pray in front of the statues and place items on them. & the last one are some Koi fish at one of the temples he went to. He said they act like his do at home (he's got a pond in his yard), they expected him to feed them. lol, I love my dad.
I know when Matt sees these pictures he's gonna be so jealous. I'd love to take Matt there someday. Japan to him is what France is to me. It's his dream destination. I'd love to take him.
I'm excited for when Dad gets home, cause he's gonna have lots of great stories to tell. That and he's bringing me back Hello Kitty souvenirs. :D OH YEAH!
Damn, I didn't realize it was almost 2am. We went out to Risa and Chris's for her birthday. I totally forgot everything I was supposed to bring. I was supposed to take Alias season 2 out there and a blender. We just stopped at Target and bought a $20 one, cause we didn't want to drive all the way back to the north side of town. Funny thing is the blender we bought blended better than the one at home would have. They're coming out here on Monday for some gaming so she can get Alias then. & we get our new blender back.
Matt played chess with me on their chess set we bought Chris for Christmas. I really liked that chess set, it's very nice. Matt said Well we should get the Star Wars one then. I was like, NO! No more Star Wars! I want a nice set like this one. I just have to put my foot down on the Star Wars thing. Dammit.
There's a job that I've interviewed twice for that I have a good shot of getting. I would be perfect in this job and it's in radio. I definitely want it and would WAIL at it. I find out sometime at the beginning of the week. Word.
I'm goin to bed after I comment on some more of my dad's pictures.
We got a new dog today. His petfinder.com page. We changed his name from Snickers to Pete. I've always wanted a Corgi, but could never bring myself to buy from a breeder when I know there's so many homeless dogs out there. He's not a full-bred Corgi, I think he's got some Basset Hound in him. He's very sweet. He's 4 years old, so he's not as excitable as Zoe. He likes Matt. He keeps following him around the house. They're asleep right now actually. I'm glad he likes Matt so much. Cause Lucy really follows me around the most. & Zoe's an all purpose lover.
We had to go to Hopkinsville to get him. Matt was working today so my mom went with me. It was SOOOO windy up there. I really don't think that helped my cold, cause I've been feeling really bad ever since we got back. I took a long nap and ended up with my feet at the head of the bed and head at the foot of the bed. I only move around like that when I'm sick. (I'm weird. Whatever.) I just hate it, cause I really want to spend time with Pete and get to know him. Plus, I was supposed to go roller skating last night. Roller skating! I mean, I'm sure they didn't even play 80's music like I would want them to, but still. It's roller skating. But sadly I just couldn't get up the energy to. So I had to cancel on that. But Matt felt sorry for me and took me to Angel Hair Yarn Co. and bought me some yarn from the clearance section. So that was nice. :)
I have a job interview on Monday. I've actually already gone thru a second interview at this place before, back in August. I was really hoping to get the job, because it seems like a good company with definite room to grow. Then when I was searching the classifieds I saw the same position open in another department. So I emailed the HR rep that I had gotten friendly with. I really hope it works out this time, because it really does seem like a good company to work for. The atmosphere is nice, the people are nice and it has potential to grow and a chance to stay.
I went to the unemployment office this past Monday. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The guy I talked to was really nice and helpful. It definitely seems to be a good resource for available job searching.
Hmm, I can hear Pete in the next room. It sounds like he's sleeping on the floor. :( I know Matt wanted him to sleep in the bed. He's nervous, which I can understand. & it's only his first night. Things will get better with time. You just always want them to adapt quicker because they're in a good home now. No more moving around and they get tons of love here. But, of course, they have no idea of that. & you can't tell them. It just takes time. He's very sweet. I'll have to post the pics we took of him today when flickr is back up.
My boss isn't here today. She's on her vacation. Which is nice because I don't have to put up with her crap today. So it's a mini vacation here at work for me.
I've been on 2 interviews this past week. Both jobs I really like, so I'm hoping that either one works out in my favor. In the first job, I'd get my own office. Snazzy. In the second one, no personal office, but a swanky cubicle with glass windows on one part. & it's not a small cubicle either. Word.
Last night Matt and I went to Best Buy to shop. He bought me Brain Age for my DS. It's fun. My brain's age is 24 (the ideal brain's age is 20), so I think I'm doing good. We saw a LG refrigerator there last night that has a TV in it! It was so crazy. They had so many appliances, it was like a homeowner's dream come true. I've come up with my dream kitchen and my dream washer and dryer. Hopefully I will get one of those jobs I mentioned earlier and we can start saving money to fix up our house, instead of just being able to pay the bills.
This weekend we have Ginger at the house. We're also trying to plan a video game party. But I'm not so sure it's gonna be able to work out.
Aw crap! The sushi we got at the grocery store tonight said Crunchy Shrimp Roll, but it was really Crab! That sucks!
So a lot has happened. Let's see. On Wednesday on the way home from work I won tickets off the radio to the Dave Matthews concert that night. So I got Matt and we went out to the concert. It was really good. I think they sound even better live than they do on their CDs, which is really cool. I loved it. We took Zoe over to my mom's house so she could hang out there. They both had fun I think.
On Thursday I went to a little happy hour thing with some of the Knottie girls. Afterwards I went to Great Escape and found The Best of So Graham Norton. I love him, he's HILARIOUS. I wish we got him here in the States. Then Matt met me down there and we went to Ken's for sushi. I was so addicted to the sushi that we went back there on Friday for dinner again. It's just so good! & I love Ken's because his sushi is much cheaper than where we used to go and it's so much fresher.
Today my mom came over and we took Zoe and Lucy to the Humane Association and they got microchips! It was only $40 for both of them. Zoe did NOT want to go in the Rover van to get the shot. I think because it smelled like a vet in there. She didn't like it. Lucy was scared while we were there. I wonder if she thought we were gonna leave her there. The woman that had her in the lobby for us when we adopted her was there and loved seeing her again. So now they have microchips in them, which makes me happy. I know it doesn't guarantee we'll get them back if they ran away, but it's still a good thing. My dad and Matt changed my brakes this afternoon too and added coolant to my car. So it's a happy car.
I have two interviews this week. I also FINALLY made an eye doctors appointment and go on Thursday. I'm excited to go, cause I'm ready to start seeing better again. It's been about 3 years since I've been to an eye exam, so it was more than time. Things are coming along. Let's hope they continue and a new job comes soon.
Aww, lookit how cute Zoe was when she was a puppy. I mean, she still is, but when she was a BRAND NEW puppy. She had short little legs and a fat belly! So cute. Matt found a video of her that we had taken one afternoon when we were playing with her. It was so cute to see her little puppy fat. She's so fun. It's crazy to see pictures of her when she was a puppy, cause I'm so used to seeing her as she is now.
She's scared of our Swiffer Wet Jet right now. It's probably because Matt brings it out when they're playing. So she's not actually scared of it, cause she'll walk past it in the hallway. She just likes to bark and run from it when they're playing. It's all very cute to watch.
I have another interview this afternoon and then the place I did the phone interview for on Monday afternoon have called back this morning to schedule a second interview. So that makes me feel good. I also need to look on some more websites and send out more resumes. Even though I'm getting interviews, can't put all my money on them actually working out.
Ohhh, last night I watched the wonderous Lifetime film "No One Ever Told" starring Candace Cameron and Fred Savage. It's very weird to watch Fred Savage play a guy who beats up on his girlfriend and eventually kills her (trust me, I didn't spoil anything. That's how all those Lifetime movies go). It was almost humorous to watch, because he just did such a bad job at acting in it. Candace Cameron did okay, as did everyone else. But he was quite funny in it. Ohh Lifetime TV.
I went for a job interview today. I definitely know I'm qualified for it. It'd be nice cause it's a government job and I would get all the government holidays. Plus vacation days! Holy crap, that'd be awesome. It'd be awesome just to get days off where I could say, I'm taking Friday off, since the calendar is clear and not have someone give me an attitude or worry about whether my boss wants to be nice and pay me for that day. Even though I was promised that when I started. Bleh. I'm not gonna harp on my bad job. I'm just gonna keep looking for a better one! I also did a phone interview this afternoon. There seems to be some promise there too. Here's hoping.
After taking all that Nyquil, Astelin and Zyrtec last night I was dead to the world today. I even fell asleep at my desk while everyone was at lunch. Luckily it was the electricians that caught me sleeping and not my boss. I was drooling on my hand too. Haha.
So after using the stamps that everyone had at the scrapbook crop on Friday, I really want some stamps now. Mostly alphabet stamps. My problem with buying stamps is that I don't know how often I'd use them. So I don't want to spend the money to buy them, when I could spend it on better supplies. Meh. I don't know. I do want some circle punches too. All this will have to wait, of course, until we get more money and more bills paid. I have plenty of scrapbooking stuff to keep me occupied until then.
One thing I'm discovering in this whole voxosphere is Blythe dolls. I've never heard of them until surfing around Vox and reading about people who have them. They're quite cute. I have no idea where people are getting them, but apparently there's this whole little world that has them and creates outfits for them and all. Very cute and extra nice for the crafty aspect of them. I'm always amazed when I find out about the undercurrents of the world that are able to be fed by the internet. Love it.
